North Union FFA members capture State Title

5/11/2017

The North Union FFA captured the 2017 Ohio FFA Agronomy title. The Agronomy CDE is based on member's knowledge of agronomic principles and practices. They must be able to demonstrate their ability to identify agronomic crops, weeds, seeds, insects, diseases, plant nutrient deficiencies, grain grading, crop inputs and equipment, and so much more. Many hours are spent studying for the test, and preparing for the group activity that evaluates the team on applying practical knowledge. The team of Abby and Sarah Chadwick (Abby 1st place individual, Sarah 4th), Grayson Plotner (2nd individual), Carter Wedding (3rd individual), Josie Stimmel (7th) and Styler Buyer (8th) were out of 142 individuals and 35 teams. Abby, Grayson, Carter and Sarah will represent North Union at the National FFA Convention this fall in Indianapolis, IN. The team is coached by Mr. Jared Evans and advisors are Ms. Breck Finch and Mr. Tom Jolliff. Every year, The North FFA participates in many different competitions amongst other schools, around the district, state, and country. These Career Development Events (CDE's) educate our members not only in occupations, but there are some events that may prepare students for a potential career that is outside of the FFA. There are CDE's in almost every subject related to FFA, business, and leadership that provide wonderful opportunities for the members to explore various professions they may want to pursue.
